When you sign a lease for an apartment or a house it is mandatory to have a home insurance.

In Sweden the insurance is valid directly from when you book it and then you usually have 14 days to give a notice if you do not want it. It’s especially important to have the insurance in case something happens to the property through no fault of yours as your insurance company will cover evacuation housing.
